W2344 MK3 - MS-Matrix, Extended Stereo Image Processing System
The "Extended Stereo Image Processing System" W2344 MK3, developed by roger schult german audio lab, is used for processing audio material in stereo and M/S mastering environments. Existing signal processors can be equally integrated into the stereo and M/S signal path via two flexible loop-in paths. The integrated switching matrix of the insert paths with pre/post and on/off function allows immediate assessment of the effect between MS and stereo processing with or without external signal processors. W2344 MK3 function of the control elements
• channel / L< - >R - channel swap for checking the side signals L and R
• phase / change L - phase swap left to check the phase position in the stereo image
• L+R - checking the mono compatibility and phase position
• insert 1 - Loop-in path 1 for external signal processors without equalization (Pre-EQ)
• input level - active level control for adjusting the input and output signal
• mid-equalizer - Baxandall filter for the mid signal
• side-equalizer - Baxandall filter for the side signal
• on / filter - switch, activates or deactivates the Baxandall filters
• flip / insert 1|2 - switch to flip the two insert paths insert 1 and insert 2
• default / width - switch for switching between normal base 1 and "base width" potentiometer
• insert 2 - insert path 2 for external signal processors with tone control (post EQ)
• base width - stepless base width control from mono to overbase 2
• byp. - Bypass switch allows checking the effect of filters and external signal processors

Insert paths for external signal processors
The two insert paths "insert 1" and "insert 2" can be switched into the stereo or M/S signal path, as well as before and after the two Baxandall filters using the "flip" switch. In the center position of the switch, the insert path is deactivated.

The EQ section of the Baxandall filter
Two integrated Baxandall filters with infinitely variable frequency adjustment allow the mid and side signals to be influenced separately. The filter function can be deactivated using the “on / filter” switch to check the set filter effect.

The stereo base width
Using the "base-width" control, the stereo base width of the side signal can be continuously adjusted from mono to a factor of 2 (overbase). A "default/width" button allows you to compare the effect of the set base width with the standard base.

Compatibility of input signals
The W2344 MK3 matrix features a monitoring unit for checking signal compatibility before signal processing. The positioning of the L and R sides is controlled using the "channel" switch, the phase position is controlled using the "phase" switch, and mono compatibility is controlled using the "L+R" switch.

User interfaces
All pressure switches of the W2344 MK3 matrix are illuminated when activated to provide the user with reliable visual control of all switching states at all times. The scaling of the Baxandall filters has been designed identically for the center and side signals to enable quick and easy graphical assignment of the "cut and boost" function.
